6 DoF Arm 1: Potential designs

I need a 6 DoF arm that is inexpensive yet high quality. I want something that can move smoothly and quickly. None of these servo toys:

I have more or less narrowed it down to these two options:

I really like the second option, especially after seeing this very sexy build of it.

I've never seen a belt wrapped 90 degrees like that. It's really cool how they put the J6 motor up at the elbow and had its shaft extend through the arm in order to keep mass close to the arm base.
